I’m not trying to rank oppressions when I say I’m more concerned about rights for sex workers than I am about gay marriage. My point is that many sex workers are trans women and the “gay marriage” agenda completely disregards the needs of trans people while still wanting to include them under the LGBTQ umbrella and call themselves trans allies and pretend as if anything like an LGBTQ “community” exists. The “gay marriage” movement is made up almost exclusively of white cisgender people who are fond of appropriating Martin Luther King’s speeches and saying stupid bullshit like “gay is the new black” and who generally seem to have no actual regard for any of the letters of their supposed community other than the L and the G, or for POC, but they still get to act like allies of the other letters. A lot of the “gay marriage” rhetoric acts like racism is over and the struggle to attain the right to marry is the last oppression that needs to be dealt with. This is bullshit to me. I’m not here to say which oppression is worse or that two separate goals can’t be worked for simultaneously or even to say gay people shouldn’t be allowed to get married. I’m just here to call gay people out on their bullshit when I see it.
